Correct fluid, not universal fluid
The ZF 8-speed requires its specific fluid. Universal ATF causes shift quality problems and long-term damage, and it is a common shortcut in cheaper workshops.
Adaptation after service
Modern transmissions learn. After a fluid service or repair the adaptations must be reset and relearned properly, or the shift quality will not be right.
